Built in around 351 BC in Halicarnassus — the ancient city that once stood where Bodrum now stands — the Mausoleum housed the tomb of King Mausolus, the ruler of the Persian kingdom of Caria. When it stood, this magnificent temple probably measured around 164 foot (50m) high and was adorned with elaborate columns and statues: a beauty that saw it classed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Next, drive to another of Bodrum’s historical treasures — the ancient Bodrum Amphitheater. Afterward, drive back to Bodrum port, where your tour comes to an end.
