Cathedrale Saint-Gatien
15 minutes
The Saint-Gatien cathedral presents a very complete set of French religious architecture from the 12th to the 16th century. The base and foothills of the towers are Romanesque, the general ornamentation is pure gothic, radiant and flamboyant, and the summits of the two towers are in the Renaissance style of the early sixteenth century. She has an exceptional jewel: her stained glass collection. The most beautiful, dazzling, adorn the chapels of the ambulatory and the high windows of the choir. It is one of the most perfect sets of the thirteenth century (stained glass medallions) existing in Europe, complete, intact, multicolored, very varied. We must add the two roses of the transept, the fourteenth century, as well as those of the nave and the facade, the fifteenth. Another beautiful 15th century stained glass window adorns one of the south aisle chapels.
