What You Will Do
The 'Camino Nacional' is one of the hotspots for birding in the coffee region (around 347 species according to ebird). This country road leads out of Salento towards the mountains, so we can observe species from the mid- to high-Andean range. The countryside here is home to a number of colourful and eye-catching birds as well as some of the rarer target species for this region. Our guides will lead you along this route in search of species like the Lesser Violetear (Colibri cyanotus), Andean Motmot (Momotus aequatorialis), Emerald Tucanet(Aulacorhynchus prasinus), Scrub Tanager (Stilpnia vitrolina), Blue-necked Tanager(Stilpnia cyanicollis, Golden-olive Woodpecker (Colaptes rubiginosus) and many others.
