What You Will Do
Welcome to Serras de Aire and Candeeiros Nature Park, an outdoor paradise of 39.000ha. We’ll explore caves and sinkholes, dinosaur footprints, and landscapes where geological, biological, and cultural richness intertwine.
We begin with a walk to the Lapa do Alqueidão do Arrimal, an impressive example of limestone formations. Then I'll drive you to Telhados d'Água, an ingenious rainwater collection and storage system.
At Vale de Meios, we’ll observe theropod footprints that are 168 million years old, the best-preserved in the Iberian Peninsula, revealing insights into the behavior of early dinosaurs.
We’ll also visit the Lapa and Algar dos Pocilgões, take in views over Vale da Mendiga, and explore the Lagoas do Arrimal, biodiversity havens. Our journey concludes at the historic Arco da Memória, linking past and present.
Each season has its own charm—from the colors of autumn and the mystery of winter, to spring orchids and the scent of aromatic herbs in summer.

The Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Nature Park is a hidden treasure in the heart of Portugal that is worth discovering. This park, located between Lisbon and Fátima, is a true paradise for nature lovers. PNSAC has an extraordinary geological, biological, and scenic value, which makes it one of the most important natural parks in Portugal. Its unique geology is characterized by limestone formations sculpted by erosion, which have created impressive caves and caverns. In addition, this park is the habitat of a surprising biodiversity, with rare and endemic species. It is a privileged place for birdwatching, with more than 100 recorded species. It is also possible to find protected species such as bats and the rare red-billed chough. PNSAC has a rich cultural and historical heritage and a unique architecture.
