The place where the Shrine of Fatima is located, the Cova da Iria, was an unknown place in the municipality of Ourém until 1917. A religious event changed the history and importance of this place, three pastoral children, Jacinta, her brother Francisco and her cousin Lucia witnessed successive apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.
