A visit to the Terreiro da Luta Viewpoint is not only recommended for its stunning views but also for its historical significance. Here, you'll find the Nossa Senhora da Paz Sanctuary, the island's tallest monument, standing at an impressive five meters in height. Designed by architect Emanuel Ribeiro, this marble statue was erected as a fulfillment of a vow made by the people of Madeira during the 1917 German submarine bombings of Funchal. Dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Monte, it holds deep sentimental value and forms an integral part of the island's cultural heritage.
