What You Will Do
You will learn about the Garifuna people from a Garifuna and in a Garifuna village. When learning about indigenous cultures, it's essential to listen to the actual indigenous point of view because history and books have twisted our story a lot. Since 2011 I have been researching my culture by speaking with elders, reading books, and traveling to other Garifuna villages (including our original home, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines). A tour with someone else will not give you access to the knowledge I have obtained within the past eleven years.

Meeting Point
We meet our guests at the old building of the Garifuna Cultural Center, in Punta Gorda village (Roatan, Honduras)

Punta Gorda

Punta Gorda, Roatan is the first Garifuna Settlement in Central America. We will walk through this historical community during your tour as I share my ancestor's story. We will stop at several landmarks and sights. Topics of conversation include all aspects of the Garifuna culture, and sometimes you will listen to stories from community members.
