Casa de la Cultura Historia de Mompox

The House of Culture is a restored 18th century house that contains all the elements of Seville's civil architecture. with its central patio, galleries, gazebo, backyard and cistern. It has 2 permanent exhibition rooms: Malibú Room that contains pieces from the pre-Columbian period belonging to the Malibu indigenous culture, who lived in mompox, prior to the Spanish conquest. The second room exhibits elements of the colonial Momposina culture, images of prominent people, clothing, weapons, publications, filigree tools, among other elements.

Freedom Square

Emblematic square Located, in front of the San Carlos Convent, where you will find the Monument to Freedom of French Origin, made of bronze and its explanatory plaques about the Independence of the city.

Palacio Municipal de San Carlos

Convent of San Carlos built in 1643, place where the Society of Jesus lived when they settled in this City, also where a school for the teaching of sciences operated by the same religious order. Today the building serves as the municipal mayor's office. It preserves the characteristics of Colonial Architecture.
Access is enabled from Monday to Friday.

Plaza San Francisco Mompox

Beautiful and large square located in front of the Church of San Francisco, where you will find the Sucre Monument and the Filigrana Monument in Bb. besides being able to observe the Magdalena River. Iglesia de San Francisco

Church built in 1580 by the Franciscan order, of spectacular beauty. For architecture lovers, it is unique in its style, especially for its central pediment finished at an acute angle and broken line with no known antecedents in the country, and for its apse. in front of it you can see the Plaza de San Francisco and the Magdalena River.

Plaza Del Moral

The Plaza del Moral Located on Calle de la Albarrada, we will find several places of interest: The House of Candelario Obeso the Black Poet or the Precursor of black poetry Momposina, who left us a great cultural legacy and a beautiful story of love and hate . Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepcion

The Church of the Immaculate Conception, is located in La Plaza Fundacional, built in 1540, it is the largest and oldest in Mompox. It has a beautiful Neoclassical architecture, the result of the last restoration that took place in 1931. Inside the church you will find some of the traditional images of Holy Week. Plaza Real De La Concepción

The Plaza de La Inmaculada Concepción or Plaza Fundacional is located in the heart of the Historic Center of Mompox, it is a place of imposing beauty, where you will find The Church of the Immaculate Conception (the largest and oldest in Mompox), and the Building of the Old Market, where you can appreciate and buy - if you wish - the different local crafts such as Filigree, Cabinetmaking, Basketry, Fabrics, among others. Santa Barbara Church

The Church of Santa Bárbara, built in 1613, is the icon of Momposina Architecture, due to its extraordinary beauty, derived from its marked Baroque style, its syncretism of Catholic and non-Catholic elements, and its balcony of Barandaje Salomónico, unique in America.
In this place you can listen to the history of the construction of the Church and the legend that inspired it. Upon entering the Church you will be able to climb its tower to admire the panoramic view of the city.

Cementerio de Mompox
