What You Will Do
This takes place where the lush jungle meets the rugged coastline.
You won't find this tide pool advertised on any website. This is a secret spot that many locals don't even know about. There will be no other tourists there. We will have the pool all to ourself.
To get to the pool, we will use a jungle trail that takes 5 minutes and a coastal trail that takes 20 minutes. On the coastal trail, you are 70 feet above the water with amazing views! This will be the photo opportunity of a lifetime.
The tide pool is magical. The depth is 1-5 feet. It's perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing. The surrounding lava rock is a playground you can spend hours exploring. There is an area of the pool where the ocean waves crash against the rocks, sending water flying into the air as high as 50 feet!
The terrain of the coastal trail is lava rock. Often the rocks are uneven, loose, and/or slippery. If you're out of shape or have bad balance, you will struggle.

1% of the time, the tide pool water levels are too low or the conditions too dangerous for swimming. Still, there is almost always enough water for cooling off and relaxing. Also, there are still many other features to explore and photograph.
At the tide pool, make sure you stay away from areas where there are breaking waves. Also, wearing proper shoes is critical for avoiding injury.
